Inspirations, views and specialities ...
The beauty of manufactured glass is an inspiration, with the variety of effects that can be achieved by the joining of differing types of glass. The excitement of the spontaneous decisions when creating a montage, a mosaic of glass, decisions made in a creative and expressive moment.
Living in Andalucia, Spain encouraged a more planned, constructed and considered approach for some pieces of work, as the traditions of Arabic patterning were experienced.
A continuing interest in Constructivist art still leaves me pleased with the idea that an aesthetic object can also have a function. An object can function as a mirror, for instance while also eliciting an emotional response.
Particular interests are mirrors, especially mosaics on board and mirrors for the garden, a relatively undeveloped pursuit. Lighting has also become an increasing interest by designing new shapes, volumes and colour combinations to produce new lighting features.
